Spanish Immersion

Learning a second language can require hard study, but in the early years, when kids are not afraid to take risks and make mistakes, acquiring Spanish comes naturally when they are immersed in the language. At Bilingual Early Learning Academy, we have native Spanish speakers teaching children. However, we do NOT just speak Spanish. Some of our best practices are:
- Sheltered instruction: techniques to accelerate language acquisition through visuals, movement, scaffolding speech, and one-on-one/small groups instruction targeting individual needs.
- Rich use of vocabulary: children need to hear a word several times before they start using it. But quantity is not all that matters. The quality of vocabulary is very important too. Using synonyms, explanations, details, and sensory words greatly increases language development.
- Emphasis in full sentences: when adults model the use of full sentences, children are able to develop language rapidly because they hear vocabulary in different contexts.
- Natural approach: language instruction emphasizes communication. We speak, sing, play, discuss, and read in Spanish. We live the language!

Spanish Curriculum

We are proud to have a very strong Spanish curriculum designed for preschool kids. The lessons are culturally diverse, thematic, and use the Total Physical Response (TPR) method.
The TPR method was designed so that kids respond physically to language. The method is based on three observations: language is learned by listening first, responding physically, and there should be no stress in the process.

At Bilingual Early Learning Academy, we want our kids to sing, play, do hands-on activities, use their senses, dance, and have individual and group interactions in Spanish. We promote collaboration because we believe that playing and working with others is not only a 21st century skill, but it provides the social setting to enhance language development.

Mandarin
Emerging as a valuable language to acquire in the 21st century, Mandarin activates connections between the right and left hemispheres of the brain. Researchers believe that exposure to Mandarin at an early age may develop an ear for music due to its tones. Let's learn Spanish, and Mandarin!
Soccer
Soccer skills provide children age appropriate development of their gross motor skills in a fun, non-competitive, and nurturing way. They build their self-confidence while engaging in physical activity. It will be so much fun!
